Urgent: Punjab Floods Relief 2025

The catastrophic floods in Punjab, India, have devastated over 1,200 villages, destroying nearly 3 lakh acres of farmland and leaving countless families homeless. Homes, businesses, crops, and livestock have been swept away, threatening long-term financial hardship for communities.

The Relief Committee of Greater New York is actively responding by supporting Educate Punjab in providing critical food, shelter, and medical aid to those affected. We have adopted one village out of the 1,200 impacted to deliver targeted relief.

Your immediate support is crucial. Every donation will directly fund relief efforts, helping families rebuild their lives.

Our Inspiration & History

Founded in November 1984 with a profound commitment to humanitarian service, we started by aiding orphans and widows impacted by tragic events. In 1995 we shifted focus to education — the most sustainable path to empowerment.

The Relief Committee of Greater New York was founded in November 1984 with a profound commitment to humanitarian service. Initially established to aid orphans and widows impacted by the tragic 1984 massacre, we provided assistance to help victims restore dignity and productivity.

In 1995 we shifted to education, offering scholarships to talented yet financially disadvantaged students so they can pursue higher education and give back to society.

Today, we support orphans, handicapped individuals, and needy students. We partner with organizations in Punjab to provide free education to the underprivileged and award 200–300 scholarships annually.

Our Mission

We are a dedicated not-for-profit organization where all members serve as volunteers, committed to the service of humanity irrespective of nationality, race, caste, color, religion, creed, or sex.

  • Offer scholarships, financial aid, and other assistance to needy, underprivileged, and handicapped students.
  • Extend help during calamities that cause human suffering anywhere in the world.
  • Promote universal brotherhood, peace, prosperity, and harmony globally.
  • Assist in rehabilitation of orphans and widows, directly or through partners.

As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN: 06-1376792), 100% of all donations directly benefit those in need — no salaries or administrative overhead.

Our Achievements

Every year, we award approximately 200–300 scholarships to deserving students. We maintain transparency through detailed annual reports for donors.

All donors receive comprehensive financial disclosures, outlining income, interest, and disbursements to beneficiaries in India and beyond.

We uphold absolute transparency: no members receive salaries or benefits. In 2012, we awarded our first U.S. scholarship — a $2,500 grant to a financially challenged A-grade student.

With growing support, we aim to expand our U.S. scholarship program and continue transforming lives through education and support for the vulnerable.

Our efforts have helped hundreds of students pursue higher education and improved livelihoods in their communities.
